Extension of trading time on the intraday electricity market
The trading time on the intraday electricity market organized by OTE, a.s., is extended with effect from 3 June 2020.
This change follows the successful integration of the OTE intraday electricity market within the SIDC in November last year. The trading period on the intraday electricity market is extended in the CS OTE system from 3 June 2020. From this day, it is possible to trade up to five minutes before the start of the delivery hour (instead of 60 minutes).
Trading time extension on the Czech intraday electricity market raises the standard of services provided through the platform CS OTE and, among other things, provides market participants with additional options to prevent imbalances as close as possible to the time of delivery. This approach is in line with trends in the other intraday markets in Europe.
OTE is responding to the ideas raised by market participants in the consultation processes of our Business Terms. "We perceive this extension of trading time options as an important step towards the further development of short term electricity trading in the Czech Republic," says Jakub Šrom, Head of the Energy Markets Department.
Trading on the intraday electricity market will be in this new extended time (60 minutes to 5 minutes before the delivery hour) without the allocation of cross-border capacities, which are allocated by transmission system operators within 60 minutes before the start of the delivery hour.
