I. Phase of trade data reporting under REMIT Regulation no. 1227/2011 has been successfully launched
Since 7th October 2015 Market Operator has successfully launched reporting of trade data from OTE short-term markets to a database of the Agency for the Cooperation of Energy Regulators (ACER). The reporting obligation of transactions from OTE short-term markets concerns more than 100 market participants of the power market and around 80 market participants operating on the gas market in the Czech Republic.
The obligation of market participants to report the trade data from the organised market places is established by the Regulation of the European Parliament and of the Council (EU) No 1227/2011 of 25th October 2011 on wholesale energy market integrity and transparency (REMIT Regulation) and the Commission Implementing Regulation (EU) No 1348/2014 on data reporting implementing Article 8(2) and Article 8(6) of Regulation (EU) No 1227/2011 of the European Parliament and of the Council on wholesale energy market integrity and transparency (REMIT Implementing Regulation).
“The solution of the Market Operator was successfully tested both market participants and ACER during the preceding months. We believe it represents the reliable and transparent system for trade data reporting on behalf of market participants and the system of ACER is fully prepared to receive and process the huge volume of reported data” said Andrea Stejskalová, the head of the Customer Service Department of OTE, a.s., responsible for the implementation of OTE REMIT reporting solution.
One of the major aims of REMIT Regulation is to set an EU-wide energy market monitoring to detect a market manipulation. The first phase of the reporting affect more than 3 700 market participants, 64 organised market places (including broker platforms) and 7 500 energy products which have been reporting to ACER as of today. In the second phase effective from 7th April 2016, market participants shall report the transactions concluded outside of the central system OTE to ACER.
